Stone has been in use from the beginning of the humanity. It has been used in all the times as a tool of work and a material of construction.
It is a natural and very useful element for the man; forms a part of the evolution of architecture.
It takes big advantages as his durability; thanks to it, the constructions can last thousands of years (yet remains of buildings of ancient, Egyptian cities and Greeks constructed with stones); his adaptability, in agreement to the geographical situation and epoch was used in sculptures, architecture, as structure and as ornament. And it is used naturally in any human activity.
His disadvantage is the difficulty to transport it and to cut her but for the age of stone this did not represent a major problem; the stones were in use for doing tombs and systems of irrigation. At present the stone presents other disadvantages, his cost and his instability to be able to construct buildings with angles. Nowadays the stone has been ground to be able to build with his force but to be the bestworked; this is achieved by the process of the stone in stonework where they extract profit to the disadvantages.
